India Vs England 4th Test (Mumbai) : Day 1 Match Report

Day 1 was all for England and only Ashwin had a good day at office from Indian side. After getting 2-0 lead now in Mumbai  India is looking for series win but England showed their  intent on day 1  in  do or die match to be in this series. 

Coin was rolled out in England favor and with no doubt they choose to bat in  the morning. 1st and 2nd session was moved in the favor of England with the opening partnership of 99 between Cook and debutant Jennings.  They showed that England is not in the mood to give up in the series too early. 

Openers of England created a platform for middle and down order batsmen towards the big total. Cook and Jennings,  left handy from both sides combination worked for England but cook was dismissed just before the mark of half century on 46. Jadeja was the one who got rid of Cook.  

On the other side debutant Jennings was not in mood to miss the chance given to him and he grabbed that with both the hands and scored his century in quick interval of time and became 8th England opener to score hundred on his debut. 

Root was looking good but just after lunch Kohli caught him up in slip on Ashwin’s faster one. Moen Ali joined Jennings and both took England to 230/2.   England then lost 3 wickets in last session in form of Jennings, Moen Ali and in form batsmen Bairstow.

At the end of the day England looks solid with butler and stokes on the crease at stumps at 288/5. Ashwin was the star from Indian side with 4 wickets in his bank and one was claimed by Jadeja. Now England is looking up for a good first innings total from where they can put pressure on India and will try to stop them on low score on the other hand India will be tested tomorrow on bouncy and spinning track by English bowlers.
