The Miami final is set, and again, it’s a FeDal final like Australian Open. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are going to lock horns for the 37th time, and 23rd time for a final. Though Nadal leads the head-to-head, 23-13, Federer has improved the head-to-head in the previous three meetings.
For his 88th and 89th title, the Swiss defeated the Spaniard in the final, namely Basel 2015 and Australian Open 2017. Federer won the the previous title held, i.e. ATP 1000 Masters Indian Wells, defeating Stan Wawrinka in the finals. While Federer has dropped 2 sets, en route to the final, Nadal has dropped one set, where he got bagelled.
Federer has a 17-1 Win-Loss record this year, and apparently he has played epic matches, against Nick Kyrgios in the semi-final and against Tomas Berdych in the quarter-final. While Nadal had an easy way through to the finals.
It has been a treat for Federer fans and Nadal fans, that what they had not even dreamt of, has happened, and is going to happen for the third time in four months. The two legendary players have shifted their gears ro reverse, defied their age and all the speculations about their era being over. They are back, with a bang.
