DAVIS CUP TENNIS 2017: DAY 1 Quarterfinal Scores

The quarter-finals of the world group began on Friday. All the leading teams, are leading by 2-0.

The two-time finalists, Belgium are leading against the Italian team, as Steve Darcis and David Goffin won the singles matches. The Aussies, under the captaincy of Llyeton Hewitt, have taken a surprising lead against the Americans, as Jordon Thompson defeated Jack Sock, and the giant, Nick Kyrgios defeated the American giant, John Isner.

The 2015 champions, Great Britain, are trailing against Yannick Noah’s French team. The 9-time champions are leading as Lucas Pouille and Jeremy Chardy emerged victorious. Also, the world number 2, Novak Djokovic gave an early lead of 1-0 to Serbia, while Viktor Troicki added to it, made it 2-0, against Conchita Martinez’s Spanish team.


Kazakhstan and India are leading 2-0, against China and Uzbekistan respectively in group 1, round 2.

Pakistan is already a winner as they got a walkover from the team of Hong Kong, as they refused to play in Islamabad. Thailand is leading 2-0 against Philippines in group 2.


Barbados & Guatemala, Venezuela & El Salvador, are standing at 1 victory each in group 2, while Brazil & Columbia have registered a win each against Ecuador & Chile respectively.


Hungary have already paved the way with a 3-1 lead against Slovakia; while Belarus & Portugal are leading 2-0, and BIH is in a tie with NED at 1 all in group 1.

The 7-time champions, countrymen of Björn Borg and Stefan Edberg, the Swedish men, and the one time lucky champions, South Africa are ahead, leading 2-0. Meanwhile, Georgia & Lithuania, Norway & Denmark, are at one victory each from group 2.
