Sergio Ramos in an interview with Cadena Cope, a Spanish Radio station said “”Every player is their own world, each one must decide where they want to play. He should decide what he wants to do. If they take him away from Atletico, it is one less problem [for Madrid] next season.”
Griezmann,26 has indicated to leave Atletico Madrid for United on Tuesday. The Red Devil’s are willing to pay the Frenchman’s £87.4m release clause.
The striker has also said that he is willing to stay at Vicente Calderón Stadium and win trophies with the club.
The Atletico thinks that the aim for the talisman this summer is to force a pay hike from his employers.
He had previously rated his chances of moving to Old Trafford as “six out of 10” but United qualifying for the Champions League by winning the Europa League has made the transfer more likely, with officials at the club expecting the deal to be complete by the end of June.
Griezmann who came third in the 2016 Ballon d’Or–following recent years Barcelona’s- Neymar, Iniesta, Xavi and Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer and Frank Ribery, stood alongside the evergreen two Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi on the podium.
Asked about his own chances of winning the award, Ramos said that realistically his aim was to join this list as the best of the rest in the voting behind “extra-terrestrials” Ronaldo and Messi.
“Being a defender it is difficult to have a chance for the Ballon d’Or, and being Spanish the difficulty is doubled,” Ramos said. “With two extraterrestrials like Cristiano and Messi the Ballon d’Or is difficult, I would be happy to be within the top three.”
