Manchester United are close to signing Serbia midfielder Nemanja Matic from Chelsea for £40m.Matic, 28, would be United’s third summer buy – following £31m defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica and £75m striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

The player is said to have underwent medical on Sunday afternoon and could be unveiled as a Manchester United player as early as Sunday evening or on Monday. Matic has been reportedly pictured in the United jersey with the image doing the rounds on social media. The shirt had no 31 written on it which was vacated by Bastian Schweinsteiger. Arrival of Matic will solve the problem which forced Mourinho to play Pogba deeper than in an attacking role and the Serbian would bring the best out of Pogba.

Jurgen Klopp is have turned his head onto former club Dortmund for replacement of Countinho if the Brazilian leaves after being turned down by Lanzini. Klopp regards Pulisic as a potential reinforcement for the Kop. Last season, the player was a regular for Die Borussen, with a total of 43 appearances to his name and a commendable return of 5 goals and 13 assist to show for his efforts. However, with the departure of Thomas Tuchel and the subsequent arrival of Peter Bosz, the player may be pushed down the pecking order given the players the new manager decides to bring in.

Barcelona are getting linked to varsity of players amid news of  Neymar departure and now they have been linked to high profile Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann for around a 100 million cash sum. Griezmann was certain to join Manchester United this summer but Atletico’s transfer ban forbid them to bring in any replacement for the Frenchman and hence the move collapsed. Griezmann said that he is looking to move away for newer challenges and to win more trophies and Barca could be a good destination for him.

Toby Alderweireld’s contract extension talks have been stalled once again. “No news that I know of so nothing…zero,” Alderweireld told Sky Sports News ahead of their International Champions Cup friendly match with Manchester City.

Tottenham, meanwhile, finished second in the Premier League last season and Alderweireld is keen to see their young squad develop even more this term.

“We’ve said a lot of times we have a young squad who wants to develop themselves and we have another season under the belt so now we can try to improve ourselves and even play better,” he added.

“We’re training very hard to get into the right condition to play games and win competitions – everything is going well and this is what pre-season is all about.”

AC Milan have stepped up their chase for Chelsea outcast Diego Costa and the Italian side looks to add the forward to their scheme of things before the start of the next season. Conte is waiting for a suitable offer for the forward in excess of 60 million.
