Manchester United are close to signing Serbia midfielder Nemanja Matic from Chelsea for £40m.Matic, 28, would be United’s third summer buy – following £31m defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica and £75m striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton.
The player is said to have underwent medical on Sunday afternoon and could be unveiled as a Manchester United player as early as Sunday evening or on Monday. Matic has been reportedly pictured in the United jersey with the image doing the rounds on social media. The shirt had no 31 written on it which was vacated by Bastian Schweinsteiger. Arrival of Matic will solve the problem which forced Mourinho to play Pogba deeper than in an attacking role and the Serbian would bring the best out of Pogba.
