India defeated Pakistan by 95 runs in their ICC Women’s World Cup match at County Ground in Derby on Sunday. This is the first time India have won four consecutive matches in Women’s World Cup.

Batting first after winning the toss, India had a disappointing in first half as they could only manage to score a total for 169 runs for 9, bowled out Pakistan for just 74 in 38.1 overs.Indian bowler Ekta Bisht’s (5 for 18) brilliant bowling show helped her team win the match.

Pakistan women also hold the record of being skittled for the lowest ever total in Women’s World Cup tournament. They were dismissed for 27 against Australia in 1997. India maintain a clean slate against Pakistan in ODIs and move to the top of the points table.

India captain, Mithali Raj: There were anxious moments. But Sushma Verma’s contribution in the end was very crucial. Once we got 170, we thought it could be anybody’s game. It was one of those days when the top order failed and we will address that before the next match . Ekta has always delivered when she has been given the new ball. Her spell was very crucial. Her first spell actually got us back in the game. I believe that when you are defending a small target, one has to come out with proper plans. And if we aim to be the best team in the world, the bowling side should be able to come back and perform the way the girls have done today.

Pakistan captain, Sana Mir: It was our best bowling performance against India. If our batting had backed up the good bowling performance, we could have had a better game. Diana Baig is a wonderful athlete. As a captain, I’m very proud of her. When you’re playing against a good bowling side, you can’t play cross (batted) shots.
