Semi Final 1, England v Pakistan, Cardiff Wales Stadium, Cardiff Wales, June 14, 2017
Unbeaten England will take on Pakistan in the first of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 semi-finals. England have looked solid in all departments of the game while Pakistan would once again look to stutter over the winning line.
On the other hand, England won all three of their group games against Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia and England camp is pretty settled. Team England shouldn’t get complacent. With Jason Roy expected to miss out Bairstow & Hales getting off a good start will be important. Ben Stokes will be a key player if England is to get the victory.
The real cause of concern for Pakistan is their batting, particularly middle-order. Mohammad Hafeez has been poor and has managed to score only 33, 26 and one so far in last three matches. At this point, it is unlikely that Pakistan will drop him, but the pressure will be on him to deliver in this crucial game. Pakistan has the bowlers that can swing the ball and cause problems to England’s top order. Pakistan will also need to be exceptionally good in the field as well.
As per stats, England have the edge over the Pakistan having defeated them six times in their ten encounters in ICC tournaments.
Host team England are clear favorites today to book their spot in the Final at the Oval .
