FIFA U-17 World Cup Quarterfinals : Brazil made a sensational comeback over Germany

Germany Vs. Brazil :-
Three times’ champions Brazil marks a scintillating come back to beat Germany by 2-1 in the quarterfinal in front of a record 66,633 crowd at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.
Germany’s top scorer Jann-Fiete Arp scored from the spot in the 21st minute to have his fifth goal in the competition. The solid German defence hardly allowed the Brazilians tp make a come back since then in the first half.
But it was some moments of the famous Brazilian magic in the second half dumbfounded the mighty Germans as both Weverson and Paulinho scored from two back to back thunder-strikes to make it 2-1 in their favour.
Brazil are yet to be defeated so far in the tournament and becomes the fourth team in the competition to qualify for the semi finals. They will play against England in the Semi Final at Guwahati.
Germany U17 Head Coach Christian Wueck lashed out at the referee for the heart-breaking defeat against Brazil and terms the referee to be the “difference” between the two teams in the pulsating contest at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.
Germany head coach Christian Wueck blasted USA referee Jair Marrufo for not awarding a penalty after their player was allegedly elbowed by a Brazilian defender during their 1-2 quarterfinal loss in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup on Sunday.
Brazil struck twice through Weverson and Paulinho in a space of six minutes in the second-half to trail past Germany and seal a semifinal date against England.
Germany coach Wueck congratulated Brazil but was clearly unhappy with the USA referee, as he claimed that a legitimate penalty was denied before the Selecao juniors got the lead in the 77th minute.
“Did you see the game? I think you can answer the question alone. Just look at Jan Boller’s (bruised) eyebrows. Before they took a 2-1 lead. Just look at his eyebrows. He had a cut in his eye, and it was a clear foul. The difference was the referee I think. We had a chance to equalise but we were not so lucky today.”
Wueck then went on to remind the rules. He fumed, “Before every World Cup game, each team gets instruction from the referees that every elbow in the face is a clear foul. It’s a red card, and here it’s not a foul! I don’t believe it,” he was furious.
“We have no probelm in losing a game. Congratulations to Brazil. I don’t have problem in losing a match. But if it’s like this, then it’s very very harsh. Our players were crying in the changing room. They were very tired.”
“We had a great first half. I can only criticise that we could not score a second goal in the second half but to lose this way is very very harsh,” he lamented.
