Ashes: Australia beats England by an innings and 41 runs at the WACA to seal series victory

The Aussies secured an unassailable 3-0 series lead after defeating England by an innings and 41 runs at the WACA.

The win takes the Aussies to an unbeatable position at 3-0 up in the series, and sees them win back the urn at the first time of asking since losing it in England in 2015.

Have a look at some records made during Ashes

  •  Alastair Cook has equalled the record for the most Test matches in Australia by an overseas player (14). Luckily for the opener, he’s in some illustrious company. Sir Jack Hobbs and Sachin Tendulkar both also played in 14 defeats here. Brian Lara lost 13 Tests in Australia, while James Anderson has now racked up 12.
  • Stuart Broad reclaimed the England record for the most ducks in a Test career by making his 24th  breaking his tie on 23 with James Anderson.
  • England has lost seven consecutive Tests away from home for the first time since 1993/94. Proving that the toss isn’t everything, they won the toss in six of these matches.
  • Australia’s huge first innings total was the first time in 2017 a team had scored 600 runs. India achieved this feat six times before anyone else could do it once this year.
